The Massive Invades Spokane!
Saturday Morning started off with the Spinney Bent crew, Micah Gentemen from The Sports Creel, and myself loading the Spinney Bent truck and trailer with 251 bags of shredded ice (snow) for the rail jam. Each bag weighing around 30 pounds, and every person running and working as fast as they possibly could knowing that we were pressed for time. With the trailer axels bending we hit the freeway in a convoy showing up to Simon and his crew from Big Sky Board Sports ready to help in any way to make sure the rail jam was successful. Tim Russell showed up early and decided to pitch in on throwing snow and raking take off"s for the rail jam. The set up was two Spinney Bent rails, one up down box, and then a two foot wide flat box.
Every rider was just stoked to be skiing in September and the new rail tricks that were learned over the summer were being thrown down within two warm up runs. Everybody was going off! Pete Arneson and Billy Biolo were throwing 270 transfers from one take off to the opposite feature. Tanner and Jeremy were among the first of athletes to arrive and sat down immediately to a warm and receptive response from their fans. As soon as the two sat down word got out that Tanner and Jeremy had arrived and in the blink of an eye there was a line for poster signing. Every person grinning from ear to ear enjoying the September sun and the chance to meet the very athletes they look up to so much.
After The Sports Creel closed, the family crew began unpacking t-shirts and give a ways from SkullCandy, Schweitzer, and many others. Around 6:30 the doors opened and people began flying down the hall into the banquet room at Players and Spectators to grab a limited edition Reasons t-shirt from Salamon and Poor Boyz Productions. People began claiming their seats to witness some of the best movies this year. Jib Jam was the first to be played and received a great reaction. Hunting Yeti was next and then Reasons. As soon as The Massive was about to begin the audience started hearing chants for "THE MASSIVE", by none other than Tanner's biggest fan, his mother Darla. After The Massive was over bowling began. Fierce rivalries from the rail jam earlier that day were being taken. Chris Benchetler was the bookie for the night and Pep cleaned house taking everyone's money.
The next day Tanner would be put to the test. Not a pipe run or an AK heli trip, but on the golf course. Tanner had been under the weather for the past few days and with a good nights sleep the night before he was ready to play. Him, Jeremy Nobis, Mollie, Tanner's little cousin Diego, and none other than the Sports Creel's Micah Genteman were ready. On a Par 3 on the sixth hole "Nobi" steps up and gives it a wack. He immediately knew it was in. Micah grabs Jeremy and throws him in the air. Tanner, Mollie, and myself could not believe what just happened and were speechless. People were immediately on their phones calling golf lovers alike that Jeremy Nobis just got his first hole in one. All in all the weekend was amazing. Snow and skiing was in the air and people were more than just stoked on The Massive.
