Jon Olsson Releases Clip of New Double Flip

Jon is still on the fence on whether or not he will release this one to the masses at X Games Big Air on Friday (between 7-11pm EST on ESPN). From Jon:

The Tornado.

I actually thought of that name a year ago when I was first working on this trick in my head, at that point I thought I had it, so I set up a kicker in Trysil to try it out, but after a few days of visualization I realized that I wasn't ready, I couldn't feel it the way I needed to!

Then this summer as I started to give ski racing more and more of my focus I thought to myself that I guess my days with doing new tricks are over, that I would have to work on the ones I had. Then during the city Big Airs this fall I started to feel really good in the air and the thought of the trick came back into my head.

A month ago I decided that I thought I was ready to give it a nother attempt and scheduled a week in Tandådalen to yet again built a perfect jump and test my limits.

This time I was ready, after a few days of not being able to eat properly because of how nervous I was I finally overcame my doubts and dropped in for the first attempt, I landed the trick I had been thinking of for so long, it was for sure one of the best moments of my carrier. To feel that I can give ski racing 100% focus and still progress the sport of freeskiing was something that a lot of people including myself had been doubting, I love proving people wrong!

This is by far the most technical trick I have done, it makes all other tricks seem easy. For the first 3 attempts I did not understand what i did even if I landed the perfectly. The hardest part of the trick is that you need to set the spin very hard at the same time as you set a double flip of the take off, this almost creates a stop turn on the take off that is super hard to control. But I know that if I set that right, my body with automatically take care of the rest, I honestly done really know what is going on in the air, but as soon as I get to the last part I feel totally in control, it feels weird but amazing!

To break down the trick you can say that its a switch cork 630 to cork 630, a lot of spinning and thats where I got the name "the tornado" from, it just looks like something is spinning crazy out of control...

I have for the past years been happy about my freestyle carrier but not satisfied, by landning this trick that changed, I feel that I can quit today and be happy about what i have accomplished, but why stop when I am having the best time of my life!
