Simon Dumont capped off the 2010 Dew Tour with a win in Superpipe at Vermont's Mt. Snow resort on Saturday, wrapping up the Tour in second place overall.

Dumont's winning run included a right 900, a double flip, an alley-oop 720 and a switch 720 to finish almost three points clear of Tucker Perkins in second-place. The win put Simon just five points behind overall Tour winner Jossi Wells, making the chase for the year-end title a close one.

"It's been a long but fun season, and it was awesome to have everything fall into place to get first at the final stop of the season," said Dumont. "All of the freeskiers really came together to put on a good show today."

Comp Season Well Under Way...

Kalback_C_MG_8544.jpgA couple weeks ago, our good friend and photog, Chip Kalback, was front row for all the action that went down at the first of three Dew Tour stops. Despite being the coldest place on the face of the earth, the Red Bull skiers kept it hot in Breckenfridge.

PowPoll10.jpgWith the season's newest ski flicks fresh on the brain, the time is ripe for dropping your vote for the 2010 Powder Reader's Poll. Last season, the people spoke and brought four Red Bull athletes into the top ranks. Tanner Hall nabbed the number two spot, just behind ski icon/demigod Seth Morrisson. Shane McConkey slightly beat out the Red Bull teammate, and Powder Poll top ten newcomer, Simon Dumont for the 8th place spot. And lastly, but not leastly, Grete Eliassen was sitting pretty (pun intended) in the number three spot in the lady's ranks.

Results always get released during the Powder Magazine Video Awards, and this season will be no different as the PVAs again make their mark in late January in Aspen. And, just so you know, your vote for the 2010 Powder Reader's Poll not only gains you the satisfaction of being a proactive member of our ski community, but it also gets you an entry into the contest that will bring you to Aspen for four days for the show. PVAs happen to be the same time as Winter X Games, so it's like winning three trips in one (Assspen, PVAs, and X Games, get it?)! AND, as a bonus for linking to the voting through RedBullSkiing.Com, Powder Associate Editor Johnny Stifter has agreed to be the personal ski valet to the winners of the contest for their entire trip, should they come through RedBullSkiing.com! What a guy!

DSC_6496.jpgI might be aging myself here, but I don't really get Twitter. I mean, as a techy kind of dude, I get it, but I don't really see why it's blowing up. I just can't imagine anyone, save my mother, would care to know what I'm doing at all hours of the day. I have enough trouble thinking of something novel to put in my Facebook status.

Dropping this fall, Every Day Is A Saturday features the shredding abilities of one Tanner Hall and one Simon Dumont. It's gonna be sick...

Dumont Superpipe: Pondella Supergallery

SimonGalleryLogo.jpgBehold the fruit of three days of labor for Red Bull Photofile Photog Christian Pondella. Aside from being a winner of Powder Magazine's "Photo of the Year," Christian is a general big mountain badass: he's currently taking shots of Red Bull skier Chris Davenport on Mt. Rainier.

It's truly a treat to see Pondella in action. He never messes around, bringing out the big gun flashes and suspending his uber-expensive camera from a 15 foot tall pole, all in the name of getting a better shot of Simon Dumont for you.

Enjoy the gallery.

More Mammoth...

Mammoth2logo.jpgFire drills and slow-roasting. This is what making ski-movies is all about. You'd think that after all the snow storms and cloudy days of winter you could just roll into late-spring Mammoth and throw up a pipe and get a bunch of shots in the can in a day or so. Not exactly so.

If it's not one thing, it's another. Clouds, storms, rain, high-winds. Out of the five days of potential shooting, most went like this: up at 7am and out the door by 8am. Rally to the parking lot. See every flag in the place straight sideways like it was starched that way. Pull out the cameras and get shots of Simon pretending to unload to go ski...like four times in a row. Load back up for real, go get breakfast for two hours. Go play some basketball. Nap in the afternoon. You get the picture.

But, as you can see from the second Mammoth gallery, when it's on, it's on.
