Powder Video Awards in One Week!!!

Categories:

DSC_1955.jpgOnce again this year, RedBullSkiing.com is a proud partner of the Powder Video Awards set to go down in Aspen on Saturday, January 30th. It's the monumental 10th anniversary for the only ski movie award show in the industry and it's sure to be poppin' off. If you won't be in Aspen like most of the world won't be, don't fret, you can get a front row seat to all the action with the live webcast. There's sure to be some good action from the Red Bull Skiing camp this year, especially with Sean Pettit's heavy-hitting segment in MSP's In Deep. Pettit had breakthrough performer last year, this year (yes, we're calling it now) Pettit will win Best Male Performance.

Make sure to tune in to powderawards.com, in the meantime check out some of the madness that went down last year.

Red Bull Linecatcher 2010: Vars, France

Categories:

Considering all the variables working against an event like Red Bull Linecatcher, it's really amazing how well it went off yesterday. The Vars valley in France was hit with a meter of cold powder the day the athletes arrived in town. After a successful qualifying event, two french skiers were pulled into the elite field including Red Bull's own Sean Pettit, Richard Permin, Sven Kueenle, and Bene Mayr.

France's own Candide Thovex topped the field to take the title, while Sean Pettit stood aside him in second and C.R. Johnson took third. Check out the video below:

I don't even know what to say about this. You'll just have to watch it for yourselves.

Tanner Hall: X Games 09 Armada ArCast

Categories:

Our friends over at Armada whipped up this nice little video retrospective on last year's ESPN Winter X Games, featuring Red Bull's Tanner Hall and his superpipe skills. There's gonna be a big empty hole in every superpipe event this season. Heal up Tanner, we can't wait to see you back out there, buddy.

PowPoll10.jpgWith the season's newest ski flicks fresh on the brain, the time is ripe for dropping your vote for the 2010 Powder Reader's Poll. Last season, the people spoke and brought four Red Bull athletes into the top ranks. Tanner Hall nabbed the number two spot, just behind ski icon/demigod Seth Morrisson. Shane McConkey slightly beat out the Red Bull teammate, and Powder Poll top ten newcomer, Simon Dumont for the 8th place spot. And lastly, but not leastly, Grete Eliassen was sitting pretty (pun intended) in the number three spot in the lady's ranks.

Results always get released during the Powder Magazine Video Awards, and this season will be no different as the PVAs again make their mark in late January in Aspen. And, just so you know, your vote for the 2010 Powder Reader's Poll not only gains you the satisfaction of being a proactive member of our ski community, but it also gets you an entry into the contest that will bring you to Aspen for four days for the show. PVAs happen to be the same time as Winter X Games, so it's like winning three trips in one (Assspen, PVAs, and X Games, get it?)! AND, as a bonus for linking to the voting through RedBullSkiing.Com, Powder Associate Editor Johnny Stifter has agreed to be the personal ski valet to the winners of the contest for their entire trip, should they come through RedBullSkiing.com! What a guy!

DSC_6341_1.jpgA couple weeks ago, I had the chance to visit Armada Skis World Headquarters in Southern California. It's definitely not the shiny and sterile mega-complex that a couple of Armada's larger competitors have, but who really cares. For the last six years Armada has been pumping out better and better skis, and now they are adding some sweet outerwear to their already stellar hardgood lineup. We got the tour (check out the gallery here) and sat down for a few minutes with Armada Marketing Guru, Jeff Russel...

Jeff, we're in the meat of the summer right now. What's going on here at Armada?

This time of year is all prep for next season, and the season after.

Red Bull's Tanner Hall spent weeks in a heli with TGR in Washington, B.C., and Alaska. Can't wait to see what madness will come of it? Here's a sneak peak...

DSC_6496.jpgI might be aging myself here, but I don't really get Twitter. I mean, as a techy kind of dude, I get it, but I don't really see why it's blowing up. I just can't imagine anyone, save my mother, would care to know what I'm doing at all hours of the day. I have enough trouble thinking of something novel to put in my Facebook status.

Dropping this fall, Every Day Is A Saturday features the shredding abilities of one Tanner Hall and one Simon Dumont. It's gonna be sick...
