henrik.jpgThere's not a whole lot to say about Red Bull skier Henrik Windstedt's win at the Nissan Freeride World Tour event at Squaw Valley today except...HOLY $H!T. The video below pretty much speaks for itself, be we'll throw in these tidbits as well: The event was on the rocks (no pun intended) due to extreme avalanche danger and eventually moved off the intended Tram Face to Silverado at Squaw Valley. Nevertheless, Henrik threw down a significant run and head judge Eric Seymour had this to say about it:

"Henrik showed the most progressive run of the day, throwing a giant backflip off the start straight into a big 360. He skied very fast and smooth all the way to his final air a 45 footer, which he landed perfectly. He managed to mix both new school freestyle and big mountain skiing."

Simon Dumont capped off the 2010 Dew Tour with a win in Superpipe at Vermont's Mt. Snow resort on Saturday, wrapping up the Tour in second place overall.

Dumont's winning run included a right 900, a double flip, an alley-oop 720 and a switch 720 to finish almost three points clear of Tucker Perkins in second-place. The win put Simon just five points behind overall Tour winner Jossi Wells, making the chase for the year-end title a close one.

"It's been a long but fun season, and it was awesome to have everything fall into place to get first at the final stop of the season," said Dumont. "All of the freeskiers really came together to put on a good show today."

Red Bull Linecatcher 2010: Vars, France

Categories:

Considering all the variables working against an event like Red Bull Linecatcher, it's really amazing how well it went off yesterday. The Vars valley in France was hit with a meter of cold powder the day the athletes arrived in town. After a successful qualifying event, two french skiers were pulled into the elite field including Red Bull's own Sean Pettit, Richard Permin, Sven Kueenle, and Bene Mayr.

France's own Candide Thovex topped the field to take the title, while Sean Pettit stood aside him in second and C.R. Johnson took third. Check out the video below:

Jon Olsson Wins First NorAm Race...

Categories:

jonPanorama.jpgIt's kinda spectacular really that Jon Olsson is on top of two sports at once, although, currently, Jon's putting all his effort into making his racing comeback. He doubted his chances for making an appearance at the Vancouver Olympics this winter (see EXPN video below), but with this win his chances are looking much, much better. Here's Jon's latest blog post on his win:

Just won the biggest win of my comeback in ski racing, took home today's GS Nor Am here in Panorama!

The first run was a very turny course, just the kind of course I like! I thought I did pretty well, came down and sat in the lead for a quite a while before I was bumped down to 2nd, still super pleased!
